Had Dave and friends from local 1423 Insulator Union out for striper charter on 11/11. Got an early start left the dock around 6:00am started trolling around 6:30am and had our first bass within 10 minutes. A double header on a black umbrella rig, and it pretty much didn’t stop until about 12:30pm.  Most of the bass were caught on black umbrella rigs and today they liked green umbrella rigs and blue and green stretches had more blues then usual.  We ended the day with 20 plus bass with one at 29 inches, two going around 31 inches and one at 35 inches!  Also had a good amount of bluefish Dave and friends were an awesome bunch of guys to fish with, a great day on the water!

Had Rick Watson, son, and friend on 11/03  broke the inlet a little after 7am headed north, where we had luck on Friday. Unfortunately not much bird action, but had nice marks on the screen.  We decided to start trolling in about 45 ft water after an hour with no hits; worry set in.  But finally they started biting and we had constant action until about 1pm.  We ended up with 19 stripe bass with 3 keepers two at 29 inches and one nice 47 inch!!  Nice birthday present for the lucky angler! We caught most of the bass on black umbrella rigs and blue/green stretches in about 45ft to 50ft water started trolling about one mile north of the inlet. The one good thing was didn’t hook as many blues as usual.  All in all another great day on the water!!

Keith Dick and friends from local 1423 Insulator Union out for striper charter on 10/31. Got an early start left the dock around 6:30am broke the inlet and headed north towards bathing beach.  Following some reports that the fish came south a little, while running saw a set of birds real tight in about 35ft water.  Started trolling and within 5min we had are first fish, and didn’t stop for about 2 1/2hrs straight.  We caught stripers and bluefish, most of our stripers were caught in the morning hours and hit on blue/green stretches and black umbrella rigs.  We had a lot of shorts but did manage three nice keepers one under 30 inches and two over 30 inches along with and good amount of bluefish. I wish all the charters were with the nice guys that were on the boat yesterday; Keith and friends were an awesome bunch of guys to fish with and are welcome back anytime. All in all it was a great day on the water.

Had the Hoffmann crew and their buddy Pete moonye out for an overnighter; broke the inlet around 1pm and had a very comfortable ride out.  Started trolling at the 50 line without much success and didn’t see much life either, so we hit the temp break just south of the toms.  We started seeing life so that was promising, but had no luck on the troll so we set up for the night and had a decent amount of marks on the screen.  We had are first Sword within an hour. In the end we went 3 of 5 swords, boated one around 160lbs landed some nice mahi  some over 25 lbs; but no tuna to count for. That was pretty much it for the night.  In the morning got up on the troll after an hr had are first fist longfin about 40lbs only went 2 of 4 on longfin all in all not a bad trip!

August 16th Hoffman crew chartered an overnighter, headed out around 8am on Saturday went South to the Spencer arrived around 10:30am.  Started trolling didn’t have touch until 1pm with those little yellowfin.  Got back to trolling but that was basically it for the day; 3-4 Mahi.  Set up for the night and didn’t have touch all night, that makes it a VERY long night. So around 3am we decided to head in for some Bluefin, started trolling around  5am outside the fleet for awhile still with no luck!  started heading to different area which was about 5 miles away from the fleet half way there long rigger pops and the fight is on about 1hour and half later I sunk the gaff into a nice 62 inch fish, definitely made the day!

July 26th took Sam and his friends out on a fluke trip, started out in the bay with a couple of keepers and lots of shorts.  Man that 18inch hurts!  Tried that for a couple of hours then decided  to head outside and hit some spots that I fished on Monday and Tuesday with basically the same results, with a lot of shorts; but did hook into some nice keepers.  All in all it was a great day on the water with a nice bunch of guys.

other: July 17 Cape May Tuna Tournament: Had the Hoffman crew on board and left the docks about 6am and headed out to the famous 19 lump, heard some good reports coming in. Had the lines in at 7:30am and started trolling the outside edges of the lump with no success for about an hour. We changed course for the outside lumps and half way there the planner goes off and John Krebs fought the fish for about 30 minutes and sunk the gaff into a 78lb bf not what we were looking for but It was nice fish! We didn’t have much luck with the bf after that but did hookup with four nice mahi.
July 18 Cape May Tournament: Leaving the docks about 6am with the same crew from the day before and went right back to the same area as yesterday and had the lines in at at 7:30am about 20 minutes later the planner line starts to scream and the right long rigger pops and the 80 starts to scream!! It got a little crazy at first but had Larry Sr in the chair and Larry Jr. on standup and the fight was on!! 40 minutes later Larry Jr. got the fish boat side and decided to boat it so we sunk the gaff into a 59 inch bf and brought it on deck. About 10 minutes later Larry Sr. got his fish boat side with another 100lbs plus bf. That was pretty much it for the bf so we pick up headed out to the Baltimore for some yf but had no luck there just a nice size mahi. All in all it was a great crew to work with, caught fish and have a good time.

other: July 10, Ocean City MD: Had  Dan Morris and Blake Raub  out for some Bluefin fishing and we wanted to scout the area before the Tuna tournament. Left the dock around 4:30am arrived to grounds around 6:00am, didn't have touch until about 8:30am when the planner line started to scream. We fought a Bluefin tuna for about 40 minutes and put a 53inch on the deck, weighing about 100lbs. We released her to find something bigger so we began trolling again and 30 minutes later the long rigger popped and the fight was on! We fought this Bluefin for about an hour and finally sunk the gaff in her and had a 58inch on the deck, weighing about 120-130lbs. We finished out the day with another Bluefin release about 53 inches and a caught a couple of Mahi.
July 11, Ocean City MD: The first day of the tournament had the Morris and Raub crew out again and good friend Dave for the tournament we left the dock about 4:30am and went right back to the lump from the day before. We had our first Bluefin on around 8:00am, fought the fish for about 40 minutes and put a 52 inch on the deck. Since you are only allowed one Bluefin over 47 inches and one under, we decided to release this one in search for a bigger one! So we trolled and 30 minutes later the long rigger popped after a tough fight we put a nice 55 inch on the deck. The guys wanted to gamble and find something even bigger, so we released it, I wasn’t so sure about this one but they were paying so back in the water she went! We trolled for another hour and finally the planner line took off a short fight resulted in fish in the box. Then the right long rigger popped which was on the PENN 80w, it was a good hour long fight after sinking the gaff we landed 58 inch Bluefin, nice fish! We decided to pick up and ran to the Baltimore for some Yellowfin, started trolling and within 30 minutes had a triple hookup landed 2 out of 3 fish weighing about 30 to 50lbs. This rounded out a good fishing day!
July 12, Ocean City MD: The second day of the tournament, left the dock around 4:30am still pumped from the day before. But it did not happen for us, we went back to the same area as the day before and trolled it hard for 2 to 3 hours to no avail! We picked up and tried other areas that produced for us in the past, but it wasn’t in the cards for us today we picked up a 15 lb Mahi.  Yeah I guess that is fishing!

After another 20 minutes we sunk the gaff into him and had a 58 inch bluefin, approximately 120 lbs on the deck of the No Worries. We also had another nice runoff, but that was it for the rest of the day.
Ocean City, Maryland Day 2: Had the Hoffman brothers and a buddy out for a day, trolled to the sight on Day One and trolled from 6:30am to about 8:30am and had are first run off but didn't come tight. Trolled the area for another 2hrs but no luck, so we picked up and ran for about 12 miles to another lump which has produced for us in the past but it just wasn't in the cards for us today.
Ocean City Day 3: Hooked up with a buddy on the Great Life and ran a little farther north and set out spread and had a couple of bluefish right away. We continued trolling and about 2 hrs later had our first nice runoff but didn't come tight. We had another two knockdowns, then the third was a runoff and came tight. We fought the fish for about 40 minutes then sunk the gaff into a 57inch bluefin on deck weighing approximately 90 to 100 lbs.
